THE HISTORY OF KEFALONIA
Kefalonia is an island that impresses every visitor with its unseen natural beauties, historic monuments and hospitality of its residents. Kefalonia is the most mountainous island in the Ionian Sea. The most important mountain is Enos, the highest peak is Grand Soro (1626 m.). The mountain of Ainos with rich flora and fauna has been designated as a National Park since 1962. Particularly impressive is the fir forest. Also, the various shrub species we encounter at the mountain earn admiring glances, while in the park are sheltered foxes, rabbits, ferrets, and rare bird species such as partridge and snake-eagle.
